The Walther Strong Interior Liquid Masking Tape is a water-based, peelable liquid that can be applied with a brush, roller, or sprayer. It dries to form a durable, non-porous film that acts as a precise barrier against paint, protecting surfaces like skirting boards, window frames, intricate moldings, and hardware. Unlike traditional tape, which can be difficult to apply and remove, the liquid masking tape conforms perfectly to the shape of the surface, creating a seamless, clean edge. Can be peeled off any surface, rough or smooth.
Key Features and Benefits
- Precision and Accuracy: The liquid formula allows for precise application, creating sharp, clean lines and edges. It's ideal for protecting complex shapes and curves where traditional tape would wrinkle or fail to adhere properly.
- Time-Saving: The application process can be significantly faster than meticulously taping by hand, especially for large areas or detailed trim work. After the paint dries, the film is easily peeled away in a single piece, eliminating the need to pick at small, torn pieces of tape.
- Versatile Application: The product can be applied to a wide variety of surfaces, including wood, glass, metal, and painted walls. It's compatible with most common paints, including latex, acrylic, and oil-based varieties.
- Peelable and Residue-Free: The film dries to a flexible, rubber-like consistency that can be peeled off cleanly without leaving any sticky residue. This ensures that the protected surface remains pristine and undamaged.
- Water-Based and Low-Odor: Being a water-based product, it has a low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) content, making it a safer and more environmentally friendly option. The low odor makes it suitable for use in enclosed spaces.
- Durable and Long-Lasting: Once dry, the film is resistant to paint bleed-through and provides a strong protective layer. It can withstand the rigors of painting without cracking or flaking.
- Easy to Apply: The product can be applied directly from the container using a standard paintbrush, a small roller for larger flat areas, or even a paint sprayer for maximum efficiency on extensive projects.
Application Instructions
- Preparation: Ensure the surface to be masked is clean, dry, and free of dust or grease.
- Application: Apply the liquid masking tape evenly to the areas you want to protect. Use a brush for detailed work and a roller or sprayer for larger areas. Two coats is recommended.
- Drying: Allow the liquid to dry completely. The drying time will vary depending on temperature, humidity, and the thickness of the coat.
- Painting: Once the liquid masking tape is dry, you can proceed with painting the adjacent surfaces as usual.
- Removal: After the paint has dried to the touch (but before it is fully cured), score the edge of the film with a utility knife to ensure a clean break. Then, simply peel the film away from the surface in a single, continuous motion.
Ideal Uses
- Window Panes: Masking glass panes and mullions.
- Skirting Boards and Trim: Creating a perfect line between walls and baseboards.
- Door Frames and Architraves: Protecting intricate wood trim.
- Light Fixtures and Hardware: Masking door handles, hinges, and light switch covers.
- Flooring: Providing a protective barrier on hardwood or tile floors near a wall.
