SURFACE PREPARATION

• Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dust. wax, and grease. Lightly sand the surface to provide a key for better adhesion. Remove any loose paint or varnish.

• Fill any holes or scratches with a suitable filler, and sand smooth once fully dry.

PRIMING

• If the furniture has been previously waxed, varnished, or contains any knots, then prime with one full coat of Zinsser BIN Shellac Primer.

• For bare wood (without knots), apply one full coat of Benjamin Moore Fresh Start Primer to seal the surface and improve paint adhesion. This can be tinted to a similar colour to the top coat for better coverage and colour depth.

• For other surfaces such as plastics, metals, and smooth glossy surfaces we recommend priming with Benjamin Moore Stix.

• For previously painted surfaces (In good condition), a primer may not be necessary, but a light sanding can help ensure good adhesion. For strong colour changes, deeper colours, or when painting over old oil based paints, Fresh Start Primer is still recommended.

TOP COATING

• Stir the paint thoroughly before use, then use a good quality short pile roller or synthetic paint brush to apply the paint evenly. Apply two coats for optimal durability, allowing adequate drying time between coats. Sand lightly between coats with a fine grade sandpaper, removing dust after with a damp cloth or dust brush.

• Full cure (hardness) will be achieved after 7 - 10 days, so care must be taken not to damage the surface during this time period.

Additional Tips:

• For smoother application, especially on porous surfaces, you may dilute the Advance Paints with up to 10% clean water.

• For an ultra fine finish, spray application is recommended.

• Clean brushes and equipment with warm, soapy water immediately after use

• Ideal application conditions are temperatures between 15°C and 25°C and relative humidity below 80%
